Review: Galileo^® Training at the MEDICA 2009

The manufacturer Novotec Medical and 3 other distributors presented at this year's MEDICA in Halls 4 and 5 for the first time the brand new Galileo Med L, the latest model of the Galileo series with a new medical device operating concept. The new model can be operated by a built in control panel but also by a remote control that enables the therapist to adjust time and frequency directly. With the sweep function for effective training of balance and coordination Galileo Med L is the medical alternative to the Galileo Fit introduced early 2009. Galileo Med L is available from the first quarter of 2010 in Germany.

Besides the use of Galileo Training in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, occupational healthcare and prevention were other focuses of this year's fair.

At the booth of  Novotec Medical and Stratec Medizintechnik visitors were able to inform also about the underlying global approach. In addition to the treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders with Galileo Training it also includes the comprehensive analysis and diagnosis of the musculo-skeletal system. Thus, pQCT is used for peripheral bone density measurements, while Leonardo Mechanography is used for the objective motion analysis and performance diagnostics. Both diagnostic systems, especially the Leonardo Mechanography, are ideally suited to objectify and to document treatment results – a measure that is gaining increasing importance in the context of modern quality assurance in therapeutics and medicine.

At the booth the individual performance was analyzed using Leonardo Mechanography in comparison to a bicycle ergo meter test. The visitors were also able to perform a test training on the Galileo to contract and relax their muscles and enjoy the day at the fair with new energy. The developments of the vibrating dumbbell systems Galileo Top and Galileo UpX that were already established over 10 years ago (now also licensed as medical device) could also be tested on the spot. For effective exercise of the entire upper body, they are an ideal addition to the pedestal device. For pQCT Stratec introduced the new software update.

MEDICA is for Novotec Medical and Stratec Medizintechnik an important platform for national and international contact initiation and maintenance. All the more Novotec Medical and Stratec Medizintechnik were pleased to see numerous visitors from home and abroad, including not only trade visitors from hospitals and clinics, dealers, users and patients, but also private visitors and employees of other exhibitors. Galileo Training is just used not only in therapy, but also serves the personal physical fitness and health as well as prevention in your daily operations. Novotec Medical enjoyed consistently positive feedback to the successful deployment of Galileo from customer site, such as doctors and physiotherapists.

In particular, the new Med L attracted great interest by the numerous visitors. Eventual delays incurred in the exhibited equipment, because many visitors wanted to experience the positive effects of Galileo training on their own after long walks through the fair.
