Team HTC – Highroad, training camp 2011

Parallel to the participation at the tour "Down Under" in Australia the remaining members of the HTC - High Road Cycling team are preparing currently the 2011 season in a training camp on Mallorca. At the invitation of the sporting director Rolf Aldag, we took the opportunity to work 3 days on site with the team.
Under constantly changing weather conditions on Mallorca in particular the training is focused on basic endurance. Besides training on the road the seating position and the aerodynamics of the time trial bikes were fine tuned.

While the new team members initially received instructions in the use of Galileo, the team discussed the meaningful integration of the Galileo training in the training routine. Issues such as frequency, duration and foot position for the individual exercises were discussed. In addition, questions such as when and how often should be trained on Galileo were clarified. The result is a short but effective warm up before the cycle training and finalizing exercises on Galileo to support recovery after exercises.

For John Degenkolb aspects like relaxation, stretching and improvement of mobility are at the very fore.

Tony Martin is stretched by a physiotherapist. Then the legs are relaxed on the Galileo before shower and lunch.

We wish "strong legs" for the next tours and races to the team and a successful preparation for the "classics" in spring.
